This Sunday sees the club's annual reunion event at our Burton End HQ (not to be confused with the Ugley HQ which is a few miles away) near Stansted Airport. Delicious food and the opportunity to chat in the sun (or under the marquees if it's raining) with dozens of club members past and present. There are a lot more details here: https://leavalleycc.microco.sm/comments/13704733/
Frida needs to know how many people to cater for. When I saw her at the Bill Major TT on Sunday, I think she said there were 36 definite attenders, but about 20-30 'maybes' which makes it quite difficult for her to know how much food to make. Please could you contact her directly (contact details are in the post linked to above) to let her know if you're coming (by Wednesday at the latest)? By the way, the post makes reference to a 'booking form' - this doesn't actually seem to exist, but just let Frida know you're coming and you can pay on the day.
Some of us from the A/B groups are planning a longer than usual club run to take in the event. I've come up with a route that adds up to about 85 miles. This deliberately loops up over round and back to Burton End, so that we don't get there too early (the reunion is supposed to kick off at about 1:30pm). It's about 52 miles to Burton End and then a more direct 33 miles back to London. I imagine we'd stay at the reunion for 2 hours, perhaps 3, but make sure we leave early enough to ride home in sunlight. We would set off from the town hall at 9am as usual and we would probably stop somewhere (Hatfield Broad Oak?) to buy some more drink on the way up. C/Social may well be doing something similar - hopefully some comments will go up here or on Facebook to give the plans.
Here is the suggested route: https://www.strava.com/routes/9555453
